Fred was recommended to me by a local carpentry workshop in Muswell Hill who I approached to carry out repairs to the front bay window of my 1920's house. They were able to produce the complicated timber sections needed but could not take on the on-site repairs.
The work involved dismantling one end of the bay where the front of the bay turned through 45 degrees past one window then through 45 degrees again past another window back to the main wall, then replacing the vertical posts at one of the 45 degee corners and the horizontal timbers either side of that corner, between the upper opening windows and the lower fixed panes.
Although I had those timbers made in advance ready for when Fred arrived, when he did the dismantling, he uncovered extensive rot in the window sill. He was able to organise replacement sections of window sill so that the work could continue without delay, cutting out the rotted sill, treating the adjacent wood to prevent spread of the rot and fixing the new sill before carrying on with the original work.
Fred worked in a very professional, neat, tidy and accurate way cutting new joints and mitres to link the new to the existing, and I am very pleased to have had him carry out this complicated and demanding work for me.
